Playing The Piano
Music is a form of art that has made itself a part of different cultures and traditions all over the world. It is enjoyed by people of every walk of life. Music is created by the sounds generated from different musical instruments. These musical instruments have their sole form of music and can also create magic when brought together in varied combination’s.
On such musical instrument is the piano. The piano can be learnt by people of all ages. The piano comprises of the keyboard along with the horizontal arrangement of keys that produce sound, the pedals that modify the sound to make it pleasing to the human ear, a bench to sit on and a rack to place the musical notes for reference.
It is always advisable to begin learning the instrument for a skilled tutor or refer well written books that can be clearly followed. While playing the piano, learn to relax yourself. Don’t get too worked up by thinking if you will play well or not. Press the keys gently and let your hands flow smoothly from one key to another.
When playing the piano, play what you enjoy and enjoy what you play. This is the thumb rule to make learning easier. Learn to play music that your familiar with so at times you can play without having to refer to the notes. Once you have mastered the known songs, then wander into the unknown territory and slowly begin with unfamiliar music.
It is okay to play just a small portion of a song, as long as you play it right. It’s rightly said that practice leads to perfection, so practice small portions till you perfect them. You can increasingly add smaller portions till you complete the song. In this way, when you play, you will be able to catch a missing note, if any.
Learn to play the piano with both hands. The left hand behaves as a mirror to the right hand. Move on to the next note, even if you happen to miss a note by either of the hand. It will create a harmony of its own. A few mistakes made by you, will automatically make you correct it, as you would realize that it did not sound right.
In pianos with pedals, the sustain pedal is used while playing the notes, where the fingers move immediately from one note to another. In other pianos, the key is held down as per the requirement.
Play by the ear. Create your own melody when playing the piano. Playing around with the keys help you decide which key should follow after one to make it sound nice to the ear. It is said that memories become long term during you sleep, so practice your favorite song just before you go to bed. This will help you remember all your notes right while playing the piano.
